Reasons I gave up on Linkedin
Tl;dr; Linkedin sucks
The truth is, the paradise for HR folks is a nightmare for developers that want peace of mind.
The main reasons I left Linkedin:
- Spam
- People turning it into Facebook
- More SPAM
- Woke posts going on everywhere
- have I listed SPAM yet?
- People begging for likes, sharing posts showing diseased people in hospital beds, and so on (basically the Facebook argument again)
I believe there is a place and time for each thing. LinkedIn was supposed to be your online CV, the place where we can find people's skills, for sharing public corporate information and data, to learn more about the companies we are engaging with.
One lesson I have learned so far is that if people want to reach you, they will. That being said, tired of all the crap from that social network, I decided to 'hibernate' my account and keep only using GitHub and my personal blog. Not that I trust Microsoft enough to hold my data (on GitHub), so I plan to also have a self-hosted Git instance (maybe Gitea).
That's it. I hope to publish more things soon, so I can compare myself to my past self in the foreseeable future.
